COMMON AREA REPORT OF ACTIVITIES IN 2009:

The highlight of the year was the completion of the new entrance wall. The wall presented several challenges, and the Board and Committee have been working on the project for three years. A significant part of the project was the receipt from the Town of Fishers of $5,000 as partial reimbursement of the total cost of $15,000. Past committee chairmen Mark Lewis and Dan Miller, as well as current chairman Phil Zink, worked very hard on this project.
Numerous street signs have been repaired throughout the neighborhood. Several electrical outlets have been added in the Falls area for use in seasonal displays.
As usual, the Falls require a lot of attention.

• The pump house doors were painted to prevent wood damage.
• A sign aimed at professional photographers was added.
• During the summer, there was foam in the pond at the waterfall that had to be tested to determine if it is an organic or chemical substance. Meetings with representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and the Purdue Extension service resulted in the determination that the foam was temporary and harmless.
• The tree planting for the Jackson Palmer memorial was coordinated by the committee.
• A dead pine tree was removed near the falls.
• Several hundred daffodil bulbs have been planted in the Falls area to provide beautiful spring color.

In the ponds areas, treatment was initiated for an invasive primrose weed. The primrose treatment will be ongoing, as this weed is difficult to control.
Meetings with the Town of Fishers to discuss the continuation of the sidewalk on 116th St. resulted in a commitment from the Town that the sidewalk will be continued when the remaining land on 116th (west of our entrance) is completed.

Anyone interested in helping or chairing the committee should contact Chairman Phil Zink. Please choose “Board Members” from the left-hand navigation bar to find contact information.
